Title: Exploring the Structural Biology of Virus Interactions: A Perspective from Research at the Australian Synchrotron
Date: 15 May 2024, 2.30-3.30pm
Venue: NMD4-02-03E, Seminar Room
About the Talk:
Dr. Ashish Sethi, Group Manager of the Scattering Team at the Australian Synchrotron, will delve into a diverse array of topics pertaining to structural biology research. His presentation will encompass cutting-edge methodologies and advancements in the field using SAXS to determine Protein, DNA and RNA structure, Intrinsically Disordered Proteins (IDPs) and/or complexes, Proteins/RNA interactions and dynamics, different sample environments for high-throughput Structural biology research, ligand/small molecule screening using SAXS, lipid nanoparticle/drug delivery and formulations and mRNA vaccine research.
About Dr. Ashish Sethi:

Dr. Sethi is a distinguished researcher with a wealth of experience in structural biology. As the Group Manager of the Scattering Team at the Australian Synchrotron, he oversees the SAXS/WAXS and BioSAXS beamlines. Additionally, he holds Adjunct Research Fellow positions at The University of Melbourne and Monash University. Dr. Sethi’s research interests revolve around understanding the structure, dynamics, and function of biological macromolecules using an Integrated Structural Biology Approach, incorporating techniques such as SAXS, solution NMR, Hydrogen Deuterium Exchange (HDX), CrossLink Mass Spectrometry, and Cryo-EM. He has authored over 25 research papers in esteemed journals and currently leads multiple National Medical Health and Research Council (NHMRC) grants in collaboration with virologists from Monash University, focusing on innate immune evasion mechanisms of viruses such as Rabies, Nipah, and Hendra.
We anticipate an engaging and informative session with Dr. Sethi and hope to see you there. Should you have any inquiries or require further information, please don’t hesitate to reach out (Thinesshwary Yogarajah: micthiy@nus.edu.sg).
